I captured this image of a yellow-headed blackbird on a June 11, 2009 trip to Quincy Lakes. I'd spent a lot of time outside the truck with my Nikon D80, monopod, and 75-300mm zoom lens. Amazingly, I shot this from the driver's seat of the car as I drove down one of the back roads. The bird was less than 12 feet from the car window. I knew that if I got out, the bird would fly off. I still can't believe he remained in place while I got 10 shots. This was, by far, the best.
